Day 1 of Vacation. Yesterday I had the inevitable question of, “Oh, where are you going?” I'd tell people the various nicknames of our town. But nobody would get the joke until I tell them that I'm too poor to go anywhere I am just staying home, I'm just taking the time off because if I don't use the time off I'll loose the time off. And I'm not too upset about being paid for NOT working. I haven't told Roommate that I'm off this week, I think it'll be fun to see how long it takes him to figure it out. He figured it out when I didn't go to work today at the regular time and we had talked about one of his cousins coming over tomorrow to play board games and with the fact that I have Tuesdays off it was pretty obvious. But sometimes it takes him a couple of days.
The watch was glitching this morning so it wouldn't do the body composition scan. I'm not that hopeful for it to be all that great with how poorly I've been doing on my diet over the last couple of days. And Dr Berry doesn't put a lot of stock in those types of scans. But it was nice to see the progress on things. (Even if they were “Bullshit” as he calls them) Hopefully it's just that the watch was glitching today and not a sign that the watch itself isn't breaking. And hopefully it'll be working again tomorrow or sometime in the next couple of days. The longer it goes without working is the longer that the projection will be inaccurate
For lunch I ground some hamburger with some homemade taco seasoning and cream cheese. It would have been very Keto friendly but I ate a bag of the corn chips that I got last night for the chili.
I'm going to play more of Oblivion. The plot of the game is that a Mystical Cult has assassinated the Emperor which without the Emperor or an heir to the throne the so called “Dragon Flames” have gone out which weakened the barrier between their world of Tamriel and the world of Oblivion. Causing Oblivion Gates to open around the province known as Cyrodiil. So you have to go around closing these hell gates as you search for the illegitimate son of the late emperor and a mystical artifact to restart the dragon flames.
Cyrodiil is VERY heavily inspired by late Roman Empire. It's not quite medieval, but the sun is definitely setting on the empire. There are a lot of ruins and abandoned ancient sites.
An annoyance with
the game other than, or maybe because of the clunky combat is that it
feels like every ten feet on the road to the next town there's
another bandit, or a wolf, or some other fantasy creature that is
wanting to kick your ass. It's hard to take in the ambiance of the
world when, oops here comes another bandit to try to fight, oh wait
I'm loading the last save because I died. I was getting really
frustrated with the game, until Roommate told me to adjust the
difficulty. It has a difficulty slider and it was on medium. I
lowered it by half and adjusted the graphics and now the game is
PERFECT. Well, it is showing it's age in a few bits, and some of the
graphics are a bit rough. But it is a 20 year old game. I was so engaged with playing that I put in a 12 hour play session. In fact I was telling myself that it was getting late and I needed to go to bed and I almost forgot to post this evening.
Dinner was a
“Cook in Bag” Kansas City style rack of ribs. I'm not sure I like
that flavor. It seems like they weren't confident in the ribs so they
caked on the seasonings. And the instructions had me cook it for a little too long. Roommate said that he didn't want any ribs so I had some of his portion. He asked me not to take offense. And I didn't take any. But I'm thinking that I could go ahead and say "No thanks" when he does get around to cooking his potatoes or pasta dinners that he makes from time to time.
