I just kind of sat here at the computer counting down the time until I had to go to work. I worked Noon to Nine closing the Customer Service Desk instead of the normal 11a-8pm Supervisor shift that I usually do. I drank an entire pot of coffee, but I'm just sitting here zoned out. I had thought a couple of times that I need to get a plan together for what I'm going to cook on Tuesday for the weekly lunch. But then I zone back out. First half of the day went really smoothly. Not sure if I should write this down. This is being logged at lunch. I worked a 3:5 split so I went to lunch at 3pm and will have to work 4 to 9. The challenge of the first half of today was that I wasn't supervisor I was s...

Another reason to avoid Energy Drinks Keto/Sobriety Blog May 16, 2025

Weight: 334.2 lbs ( 151.6 kg) BMI: 42.9 Waist: 55.5 in (142.2 cm) WtHr: 75% Breakfast: Bacon and Eggs Lunch: Jonsonville Queso Blano Jalapeno Smoked Sausages Dinner: Instant Pot Chili Drinks: Salted Coffee, Kroger Seltzer, Kroger Energy Shot, Sober Month 4 (Day 149) Keto Day 5 Came across some headlines that redoubled my intentions to try to avoid energy drinks. A major ingredient in most of the energy drinks is known as Taurine. TL;DR They're linking Taurine to Leukemia. Okay, this next part is biased on my understanding and Google searches and suffers from many rewrites to get “right”. The caffeine in the energy drinks doesn't as much give you energy. Brains are weird as it doesn't feel tired until it receives a chemical (adenosine) in a receptor. And Caffeine blocks those receptors so it isn't that you have more energy, you just don't feel the tired. That explains the “caffeine crash” that people have when it fades off. You didn't have more energy, t...

It will be nice to get healthy again so I am not gasping in pain when I'm first standing up in the morning. Looking out of the window this morning really kind of inspires me to build up my savings to try to save up to buy my own house. Just like the last time it snowed, the neighbors seem to think that it'd be fun to drive around the backyard. Can't say that I'm a big fan of snow in itself, but I really don't like seeing tire tracks all over the snow. If I get my own place I won't be seeing the results of goofballs driving all over my backyard. Or at least...

UP FOUR TENTHS OF A POUND! My God what is the meaning of this!!!!!! Just kidding, I'm still down 3 lbs for the month and 9.2 lbs for the year. I'm not going to be too broken up about 4 ounces.  Roommate came in this morning. When he got in he asked to run by the store to get snack food for the week. I took the chance to fill up on Bratwursts, Chicken, and Seltzer Water. I also got the ingredients for some “Fathead” Lasagna. It was a rather expensive trip for just buying one recipe along with Bratwursts and Chicken. But then again, the freezer is getting rather full. It would be nice to have a large chest freezer, but I just don't have the room for it. Or at least I had assumed. But sa...

And I'm wanting to do swimming next week so I spent a few minutes in the weight room I had to struggle with the thought that I was doing everything wrong and I was just wasting time. I tried to use the counter thought of “Doing something is always better than doing nothing” but I really couldn't bring myself to do much in the weight room. I did feel a lot more confident and sure of myself when I was using the treadmill. But then again that's just walking. If I can't figure out how to walk by now I'm going to have a lot of questions with mys...

I was really surprised to see it was 9:30 when I woke up the first time this morning. I did manage to get bacon and eggs cooked before I had to get to work. Would have been nice to get some coffee though. The weight was up compared to yesterday, but I'm trying to not beat myself up too much over eight tenths of a pound. For lunch I had some chili. I went to lunch at the same time the coworker that I had “converted” to the Keto diet. When I got back someone asked her what she had for lunch and she complained that all she was “allowed” to have was a piece of “lame” chicken. She asked what I had I told her that I h...

This tends to happen a lot. Just out of happenstance, I just happen to be off on the week that Daylight Savings Time changes. I'm flexible enough that it really doesn't effect me much. I had woken up at around 8am this morning (even though I had set my alarms for 6) that's not much off from the time I usually wake up. I did drive myself crazy for a while comparing the time it was and what it would have been without the time change. But I convinced myself to stop doing that because it'd just drive me crazy with how much time I “lost”. I think it's lost because it bein...

Today was the first day back to work from last weeks PTO and I was wanting to wake up early enough to get the Weekly Weigh In done before work. And I was frustrated all of last week as I woke up after 10am almost every day last week. I know that PTO is supposed to be time off to sit down, but it was frustrating that it was almost noon by the time I got up and going to do anything. But today I was up at the first alarm and up and going by the third. I was in an amazing mood... until I stood on the scale for the weigh in. ...
