The inside of my nose was burning. It reminded me of when I was a kid and heard that smelling pepper makes you sneeze, so I snorted some black pepper to see if it would make me sneeze. (Pro-tip: Don't do that, it sucks) I was going to do Bacon and Eggs , but decided on one of the smaller pork steak and eggs. It was a bit of a challenge to cook the steak because it split into two parts, but had a connecting piece that just got tangled up. All day it felt like I took a baseball bat to the sinuses. I do believe that the medicine that I bought yesterday did help. But the nose was still running like crazy. There was a bit of an air show in my neighborhood this morning. The National Gua...

Sober Month 2 (Day 68)

Stepping out of bed hurt like I jumped into lava, but by the time I got to the bathroom and down to the scales the feet had stopped hurting. It will be nice to get healthy again so I am not gasping in pain when I'm first standing up in the morning.

Looking out of the window this morning really kind of inspires me to build up my savings to try to save up to buy my own house. Just like the last time it snowed, the neighbors seem to think that it'd be fun to drive around the backyard. Can't say that I'm a big fan of snow in itself, but I really don't like seeing tire tracks all over the snow. If I get my own place I won't be seeing the results of goofballs driving all over my backyard. Or at least I'll be having a harsh conversation with anybody who is.

Really boring day at work today. Not much happened. I did talk to a manager about the kid that I was having an issue with yesterday. He was kind of on her shit-list already as he was supposed to be working the Online Ordering department, however he called 15 minutes after he was supposed to be at work and said that he had just woke up, but had a fever so he couldn't work today. I teased that he caught, “Don't-want-to-work-itits” Lady in customer service says that he talks to his father about the way that we treat him in our store. I encourage him to. Go ahead, tell your father, who is a store manager at the other store, that I make you work. That would be a fun conversation to have.

Before I left for work I had noticed that I had a serving of Instant Pot Chili in the fridge and I spent the first half of the day thinking about Chili Dogs.

I've gotten into a habit of putting lotion on my hands every time I go to the restroom and/or wash my hands. They are a lot better. I don't have the dinosaur looking skin on the back of my hands anymore. But the back of the thumbs are still rough, maybe missing that spot with the lotion. I think I'll still sleep with the socks and shortening on my hands for now.

I saw an interesting article on the newspaper this morning. I didn't get a chance to read it all as I was at work at the time. It seems that they are once again talking about restricting the sale of Soda and Candy on SNAP (aka Food Stamps) I would very much approve of this. I guess that they have to ask the Federal Government for a waiver to restrict certain things that they are allowed to sell. Of course Government has to make things complicated. The thing that caught me was that one of the congress people suggested that if people on SNAP wouldn't be able to buy Soda and Candy with their benefits, congress people shouldn't be able to buy it either. I was kind of confused by that thought because at first glance I thought that they were suggesting that they wouldn't be able to use their paychecks on what they were wanting to, but no apparently congress people have a food benefit. I'll go ahead and agree with that also. If they don't want poor people to buy junk food with tax money, the government shouldn't be able to buy junk food with tax money. It also reminds me that I really want to run for congress. You don't have to do your job, you get an awesome paycheck, and you get your food paid for. Sounds like a dream job.

The real question with banning junk food from SNAP would how would you legally define “junk food”? I'm willing to bet that a good number of people would agree that only real FOOD should be bought with FOODstamps. However everybody is going to have their own opinion on what “real food” includes. A lot of people I follow reference the “Proper Human Diet” AKA PHD. These are Keto/Carnivore people. However there are people who follow the Vegan/Vegetarian diets, and I'm willing to bet that someone following the carnivore diet wouldn't consider the same food to be "real food" as a vegan would. I'm not confident about that sentence, but I'm saying that there would be disagreements on what would be considered "Junk Food" and not.

For example someone doing keto would DEFINITELY not buy a big bag of Lays (not sponsored) a loaf of bread, bologna, and cheese. Anybody else would see that as a normal sandwich lunch.

I've heard some argue that they should just block them from buying processed food. But would that include Hot Dogs? How about Tofu? Okay, yeah, let's ban tofu. We didn't have Food Stamps while I was growing up, but I was pretty much raised on Hamburger Helper. Should that be considered Food Stamp-able? It's not the healthiest food, but most would consider it food.

As I left the store I picked up some Rib-eyes. A bit expensive, but I was getting a bit tired of bratwursts and about the only other thing planned out at the moment were hamburger patties. And I didn't feel like wrangling with getting the patties apart and then messing with the dog going in and out to grill them.
