I just kind of sat here at the computer counting down the time until I had to go to work. I worked Noon to Nine closing the Customer Service Desk instead of the normal 11a-8pm Supervisor shift that I usually do. I drank an entire pot of coffee, but I'm just sitting here zoned out. I had thought a couple of times that I need to get a plan together for what I'm going to cook on Tuesday for the weekly lunch. But then I zone back out. First half of the day went really smoothly. Not sure if I should write this down. This is being logged at lunch. I worked a 3:5 split so I went to lunch at 3pm and will have to work 4 to 9. The challenge of the first half of today was that I wasn't supervisor I was s...

Keto Day 2
Sober Month 2 (Day 63)

Lots of snow overnight. Somehow the snow makes the cold a bit more bearable. Cold without snow is just bleah. But with the snow coming down it kind of makes sense. I'm still very ready for spring. But if it has to be winter, let there be snow to make it look like winter.

Last night I was playing Minecraft with Roommate and he asked me why I had put the latex gloves on. I told him that it was because of the dry skin on my hands. He said that might not be a good idea because I'm going to want something that lets my skin breathe. He was telling me that his bandage on his leg is designed to let the skin breathe. And the suggestions that I've came across say to wear cotton socks/gloves to keep warmth and moisture in. But I have to say that so far all I had was the latex gloves. And the vinyl kept my hands moist because it trapped in the moisture. Probably not a great idea to wear them long term, but I was only wearing them at night and to bed.

I knew that I had used up the last of the bacon so I took what I thought was another steak out of the freezer into the fridge. But it was a pork steak, and it was still frozen this morning when I woke up. I was looking up how to cook a frozen steak. I did previously cook frozen chicken in the Instant Pot. And it does look like you could do that with steak. It is also possible to bake them from frozen. And you could even cook them in a pan like a thawed steak. But it just takes more care and takes longer to cook them from frozen. But then I did the math and remembered that there was still a strip steak from earlier that has been in the fridge for the last week or so. I just cooked that one for breakfast with eggs. And man I have to say eggs cooked in butter and beef drippings is good.

Took inventory of the freezer and made a meal plan for the week again. I'm proud of how well I stuck to the plan last week.

Again today I spent WAY too much on groceries today. But I had a digital coupon on Chuck Roast that expired today, I was out of bacon and eggs, and I was down to the last batch of Bratwursts. Honestly, with the snow, it wasn't a great day to drive to the store. And if I wasn't out of breakfast food I probably wouldn't have. Before I left Roommate reminded me that he wouldn't be able to do anything to help if I got stuck. There wouldn't be a lot that a lot of people could have done to help. As I have a tracking app on my phone I did think about texting Mom and teasing her about “making a mistake” by driving to the store. Implying that I was “in trouble” with the car, and revealing that it was a mistake in spending too much on food. But I didn't want to tempt fate before I got home. And then when I got home the app would have ruined the joke. Hey, at least I did pick up some of the shortening that she suggested. And it's also low carb! However it is full of seed oils though, so I don't think that it'll be very good to eat.

And with the blizzard dumping the snow all over the place made me think that pizza sounded like a good idea. So I picked up the stuff for Fathead Pizza for dinner while I was at the store.

Trying to think how I'm going to go to bed with the vegetable shortening and socks covering my hands. I tried to find cloth gloves when I was at the store, but didn't find any. I guess that would cut down on the phone use that I end up doing when I go to bed. Who knows that might help me fall asleep.
