Sober Month 6 (Day 190)
Had a hard time waking up this morning. I just kind of sat here at the computer counting down the time until I had to go to work. I worked Noon to Nine closing the Customer Service Desk instead of the normal 11a-8pm Supervisor shift that I usually do. I drank an entire pot of coffee, but I'm just sitting here zoned out. I had thought a couple of times that I need to get a plan together for what I'm going to cook on Tuesday for the weekly lunch. But then I zone back out.
First half of the day went really smoothly. Not sure if I should write this down. This is being logged at lunch. I worked a 3:5 split so I went to lunch at 3pm and will have to work 4 to 9. The challenge of the first half of today was that I wasn't supervisor I was scheduled to be in the service desk and a lot of people kept coming up to me and ask me to do stuff. I'd tell them to talk to the supervisor. “Can I go to the bathroom?” Probably, ask your supervisor. “Should I go get carts?” Maybe, ask the supervisor etc.
I did have a lady ask where the beer was. I told her the location, but told her that today is Sunday and we can't sell beer on Sunday. She scoffed and declared that she bought it all of the time in the City where she lives. Maybe, but in our town we can't sell beer on Sunday. She didn't believe me so she went to the Customer Service Desk to demand to know why she couldn't buy beer today. I was one of the four people that was at the desk at the time as CSM, Bookkeeper Trainee, and another Cashier was there at the desk and all four of us were saying that it is because today is Sunday. She yelled out that, “There just must be a lot of DEMOCRAT LIBERALS IN THIS TOWN!” I personally consider myself a centrist, but I am willing to bet that Smallville Kansas here is quite conservative. I'm just going to say that if you're throwing that much of a tantrum because you have to go one day without beer. You might want to take a look at your life.
When I left for lunch I had to resist the temptation of buying some potato chips. I had some Fathead Lasagna at home waiting for me, but I was thinking that some classic flavored potato chips would make for a good match flavor-wise, but that wouldn't be very ketogenic. I did have a Monster Energy Drink at lunch from the 12pack that I bought yesterday. I am proud of myself that I didn't buy anything today. I am getting kind of tired of being poor all of the time. The plan with the case of energy drinks is to just have one of those at lunch on days that I work. So in theory that 12 pack should last for just under two and a half weeks before I have to buy a new case of energy drinks.
Second half of the day went pretty smoothly in customer service. It was actually quite boring. I did mess up and accidentally gave a guy an extra Money Order so I might get a talking to about that. The Manager thought the shoplifting event yesterday was kind of funny and she didn't ask for a statement or anything. Management was rather upset with the girl who was supposed to be Supervisor today though. Apparently she spent the entire hour that I was at lunch sitting behind the service desk just sitting on her phone. I tried to keep her and the rest of the staff busy, but it was surprisingly slow this evening. And I can't really run the service desk, and supervise, AND micromanage the entire front end. And I am getting so tired of working with these damned children.
After work I put some frozen pork steaks in the oven to bake them. They thankfully didn't take as long as I was expecting to bake them. I was hoping to play some Oblivion after work. But I kind of zoned out at the computer and by the time I posted this it was just too late to play any. In fact I debated on finishing this post. But it isn't going to do anything unless I do it
