Sober Month 2 (Day 69) nice
Pretty nice number of days sober.
Roommate had a couple of doctor's appointments this morning. He's a bit nervous about his FMLA and Insurance continuing. He's not that worried about his job because he's planning on quitting anyway. But he'd prefer to wait until his medical stuff is paid for, but that's his plan. The thing I'm nervous about is every time he goes to the doctor they extend the estimated time he's going back to work. When he came home in December, he'd just be home until the end of January, oh wait, the middle of February, or the middle of March, now he'll “totally” be back to work by the beginning of April. Or is it going to be August. (Joke)
I cooked bacon and eggs for breakfast, but it took a second try to cook the bacon because I got distracted and burnt the hell out of the first batch of bacon. I decided to use a coffee filter to put the grease into a jar. I'm not sure just yet if I'm going to keep the grease to use in cooking, or just pour it to the side from keeping it from going down the drain. I have been thinking about making some Clarified Butter
Roommate had another doctor's appointment this afternoon and while he was out I had some of the pork chops for lunch. I let the pan get too hot and it splattered a bit. Some of the melted butter splashed onto my forearm. It didn't injure me but there are a couple of red spots on my forearm.
I had a Sugar Free Monster this afternoon and the energy drink seemed to have the opposite effect. As all I did this afternoon was doze at my computer. It might have been the great weather that we had today. I took the opportunity to open the windows to “Let out the winter farts” as Grandpa used to so eloquently say.
I've been thinking of what to work on when the Tax Return and the Printer is ordered. Iron Man or Master Chief. I even did a coin toss. And Iron Man had won. However looking it up Iron Man has A LOT of moving parts. It would be fun to learn the electronics to get all of the lights and panels working. I just know jack all about electronics. There are some lights on the Master Chief suit, but that's mostly in the helmet. There would be a couple of other spots that could use lights, but those could be done with reflective tape. A problem with doing Master Chief Cosplay is that I don't exactly have the waistline of a Elite Cyborg Super Soldier. Then again I'm not exactly in the shape of a Genius Billionaire Playboy Philanthropist either.
I checked my bank balance and my refund is here! Tomorrow is going to look like an expensive day, but that's just because I'm going to have all of my bills paid for March and the order to Amazon. I'm going to do a bit of grocery shopping tomorrow. But still a good chunk of the return is going to go into my savings accounts. And that will mean that this week's paycheck is also going to go to savings. I decided to re-balance the amount that I keep in my checking account. Each week I was keeping $200 in my checking and transferring the rest into savings. But I had decided that $200 per week was a good allowance back when I was drinking. I'm thinking that $100 would be a better allowance. $100 over the seven days is about $14/day and if I'm spending $15/day on soda I'm doing something seriously wrong.
So the plan is to do grocery shopping on Tuesday because when I write a check on Tuesday it come through on Thursday when I get paid. And then I'll transfer all but $100 into the Bill/General/Project Savings accounts. The Bill Savings is to save money to pay for the monthly bills, General Savings is just a savings account to build savings, and Project Savings is to pay for any projects that take a lot of money to pay for. I'm running out of time so I'll leave it at that.
