WTF is that weight this morning? The weight this month really seems to crawl down for a couple of days and then JUMP back up. It's still lower than the other times that it had jumped up, the frustration is that it's down, it's down, I'm making progress, I'm...oops never mind.
Today was the Solstice. The longest day of the year. Technically the beginning of summer, although the days do get shorter after today.
As the store I work at faces south I thought it would be interesting to see if the north side of the store ever gets sunlight. A simple point I'm sure. But I had noticed that at this latitude the sun never really gets all of the way to the top of the sky. That happens closer to the equator. I've seen some pictures that were attributed to Hawaii that shows poles without any shadow at all during Solar Noon on the Solstice. But around here there are still shadows still on the northern side of things. I noticed that right up against the building there was no grass at all. I wonder how much of that is because of lack of sunlight, and how much of that is because it is up against a brick/concrete building. It was kind of fascinating how right as solar noon came by it felt like it warmed up like five degrees. It kind of felt like somebody had adjusted a thermostat.
At the store I grabbed a pack of Hot Dogs and some Monster for lunch and thought it would be nice to have a bit of a hike at the Sandhill State Park just north of town. One of the trails goes up to the top of one of the dunes. And that is quite a hike to get all of the way up. It was quite peaceful, but I really wish that there was a chair, or picnic table or something at the top of that hill. There was a short offshoot of the trail on top of the hill that had a plank that defined the lookout point that I sat on for a bit, but that was not a very good chair. When I came down the hill I decided to hike a bit more into the park. I eventually got tired and turned around. I was kind of worried after a bit of coming back as they don't mark the trails very well and I was kind of worried that I had somehow gotten to another trail after a while, but I eventually got back to the wooded entry trail.
When I got home Mom was thawing out some pork steaks for dinner. And I finished editing the Store Story Video that I'm planning on releasing on Friday.
There were some pretty good storms building up in Indiana. Too far away to worry anything around here. But Mom and Step-Dad were watching a meteorologist react to the event.
