I'm just gobsmacked that well “gobsmacked” is a recognized word and that I spelled it correctly on the first try, but on topic I had beaten the “short goal” again I'm not considering that goal “beaten” just yet as daily fluctuations can easily bring that above the 1/2 lb that I've passed that goal by. I finished the “Daily Challenges” of the word match game that I've been spending WAY too much mental energy on. There's such an emptiness when I finish a game like this. It's never very satisfying. I'm not sure how to explain it it's just, “Okay, I...

Keto Day 5 (49/365 Days 2026 Keto)

So eating corned beef is good for Ketovore, but eating the entire brisket of corned beef in a sitting might not be good for trying to lose weight. Or at least in matter of mass. And after I ate dinner last night I was really thirsty from eating the salty meat so I was drinking a lot of seltzer water after dinner. So I'm pretty sure that's why the scale is up today compared to yesterday. Still down 12.7 lbs (5.8 kg) from this day last year. Then again trying to explain day to day fluctuations can be a fools errand

Getting up this morning I was in a bit better mood and legs and feet didn't hurt nearly as much as previously. A couple of hours into the day a guy working in customer service noticed that I was limping a bit as my left heel was really starting to ache. He had recently had gout and he asked me if it were possible if I was suffering from gout. I really doubt it googling it the pictures and the descriptions of where the inflammation shows up in that isn't where I'm getting my pain. The pain I have is more in the Achilles Tendon. I should probably work on stretching in the morning. I'm also going to guess that being almost double my “ideal weight” isn't helping much either

I'm really trying to keep this from becoming the “Mark Whines About Work Blog” but I had another moment to add to the “To Do List” of Store Stories. A lady who worked at Self Checkout was talking about how she was called up for Jury Duty last week she was relieved that she wasn't chosen to be in the jury. But the kid working as a cashier asked what that meant. The lady and I explained to him several times that she was called up to be in a jury pool, but that she wasn't chosen to actually be in the jury in the trial that they were having. But the kid just didn't know what that meant. He didn't know what a jury was. I tried to explain what a jury was and what they do in the process of a trial. But I was just blown away that this kid, who is old enough that he should be in school, but wasn't for some reason for being a Thursday morning, didn't know what a jury was. Reminded me of a couple of days ago when somebody asked me how I know how to do so many things. I told him 1. I've been there for WAY too long, and 2. a lot of things are just kind of a matter of “Basic Problem Solving Skills” dude had no idea what “Basic Problem Solving Skills” meant. Really makes me wonder what's going on in our schools that kids don't know about “problem solving” means, and they don't know how our basic rights work.

I noticed that my ankles, knees, elbows, back, and neck are popping and cracking a lot. I'm pretty sure that's a sign that I'm getting back into Ketosis. I looked that up, but google seems to just list the symptoms of the "Keto Flu" and I was suffering from a lot of those servings earlier this week.

As I had finished off the batch of Mom's chili yesterday I had a serving of my own Instant Pot Chili and I'm seeing what she meant by her batch having a lower flavor. Not quite to the dramatic level that she insisted on. But the Instant Pot chili had a stronger meat flavor. I had forgotten to take the jars back to her when I did laundry on Tuesday and she told me that she was low on Egg Cartons so after work I ran by her place to drop off her jars and some egg cartons.

All day long was a heavy mist hanging over everything. This is my favorite kind of weather. If it were about 20 degrees Fahrenheit warmer it would have been perfect. It was a bit strange when I got off of work there were some faint flashes of lightening. I'm seeing that this phenomenon is known as "Thunder Fog" that was kind of cool. I don't think I've seen that before. I'm pretty sure that this is a rare phenomenon as fog and misty days happen when the air is really still and stable, but lightning is caused by the energy of water droplets moving around against each other. There was a bit of rain that came through when I went over to Mom's house and she was saying that the Meteorologists were saying that tomorrow is supposed to be a bit more dramatic.

While I as moving around during the day my legs didn't hurt but when I got home and sat down for a while they really didn't like it when I got up and prepared dinner. I had a Ham Steak. I only cooked the one and Roommate asked if I was just cooking the one ham. He didn't seem to broken up when I confirmed that I was only cooking the one. He did send me his half of the Rent and a bit to help with Bills. That should be here tomorrow or on Monday.
