I was so excited a couple of days ago. I even made a big social media post about finally being under the “Morbidly Obese” level. And the last two days the scales said, “Ha ha, no you're not” Still down 10 lbs for the month and 7.7 lbs for the year. I know that fluctuations happen and happiness is not a number on the scale, but come on I was making progress here. It's irritating to be up 2 whole pounds each day after being down to the lowest weight in almost 11 years. 

I worked 12-9 today. I was thinking that I was supposed to be a carryout for the first half of the day but when I got to work it was revealed that I was in the desk the entire day. Today was a challenge as yesterday (I forgot to mention) the machine that dispenses money for the registers had broken. So they were able to manually build the drawers so we could make change and still do business, but we didn't have enough money for people to cash paychecks or do cash withdraws from their debit cards. Which wasn't fun today as today was the last Friday of the month and a lot of people were getting paychecks and the like. Really frustrating when people would walk past one sign saying we can't cash checks or do cash withdraws, stand in front of another sign saying the same thing, pick up the paper that says we can't cash checks or do cash withdraws, ask if we could cash their paycheck, and then get upset that we couldn't cash their paycheck. There was more then once when somebody would go through the register, ask for cash back, and the cashier would just say, “Sorry, we aren't doing cash back, I can't give you the money you asked for.” The register didn't know that so they were charged as if they were getting cash back so I had to get the money out of the register I was at in the desk and then go get the money from the register.

The thing that was REALLY making me question my life decisions was one of the self checkout registers had the battery backup fail. So not only were we down a register on the last Friday of the month, the battery backup had this piercing trilling beep that was constantly screeching out. Assistant Customer Service Manager was there this morning and said that it had been beeping since she got there at 5am. I have a theory that the reason that I have a hard time getting anybody to hear me is because of the infra-sound of the store. And with the background screeching of the bad self checkout really didn't help with the voice that competes with the background noise that is already in the store. I did notice that I as annoyed by the noise coming from the self checkout I really wasn't tempted to buy any beer to cope. I made the mistake of mentioning that to the Supervisor. She goes to AA meetings and she spent the last four hours of the day seemingly having a panic attack screeching that she needed to get out of there so she could go to her meeting. I don't mean to be too much against her. But even after the technicians came out to fix the machines she ran around screaming about how she had to get out of there to go to her meeting. I didn't confront her because telling people to calm down is not very helpful in getting people to calm down. I have to be really, really careful discussing my history of drinking with her because if I mention anything as a struggle she starts to panic. 

I was late getting out closing the desk as this was the first time I closed with the new money services system.  Most of the reports I printed off made the other reports come out as balanced. But the bill pay report was off by $37. It took me a while to figure out that I did print the reports correctly, but one of the bills was rang up wrong. Somebody paid their electricity and their natural gas bill and the person who rang them up charged them twice for the electricity bill. The way the system works that is a benefit to the customer. It's mystery solved so I'm not going to worry about it. 

When I got home I just baked a ham steak for myself. Roommate was annoying as he started hacking and making exaggerated coughing because he could smell the ham baking. I didn't confront him as I've had enough drama for the day. I did hear him talk to his cousin over the video game chat that he hates whenever I bake dinner. He didn't seem to have a problem with it when I baked Bratwursts yesterday.
