My Opinion of What's Going to Happen with Trump's Tariffs

Warning political opinion about something that I know very little about inbound. I don't have a crystal ball and I can't tell the future, but this is my guess of what is going to happen. I would love to be proven wrong. And it might be a bit rambley as I wrote this from notes that I made on my phone over the last couple of weeks.

Apparently there have been some serious tariffs put into place. I honestly know very little about what tariffs are/do/work. I've looked it up and tariffs and they seem to be a kind of tax on imports. And naturally the talking heads (not the band) have seem to have taken their sides. The opposition is saying that he's putting extra taxes on everything. And the taxes will destroy the worlds economy. The proponents say that it will be great because it will force companies to build factories here state side.

Pre-post Edit: I guess that President Trump has pushed back when the tariffs are going to go into place. He's still going to have 10% across the board tariffs, but the big ones are being pushed back. They're going to go into place in 90 days. Just ignore a couple of months ago when he was going to push them back 90 days. Willing to bet money that in 90 days he's totally going to kick the can down the road again. What I'm guessing is going to happen is that every three months he's going to push back when he's going to have them take place. Eventually he's going to announce that he's the greatest negotiator in the world because he decided to not put the tariffs into place. The other countries will still have the reciprocal tariffs against us, but he'll back down and just claim victory.

But here's what I think will happen if they ever do go into place:

Let's say that there will be a 25% Tariff against a country that a company imports their goods from. Companies will raise their prices 45% because, you know. “Tariffs” and “Inflation” and any other excuse that they could come up with.

They wont give people any raises, because paying people more will “make prices go up”

They'll be making record epic profits while Average Joe is going to be starving to death. However they'll use some funky statistics to “prove” that their "sales are down". (Dems will blame Trump, GOP will blame Biden. Nether side is going to do anything)

Companies will ask for loans to build factories. They'll super duper ultra mega hyper pinky promise that they'll build...campaign contributions, er “”Factories”” So they'll receive an EPIC FUCKTON of money. But after some bribes campaign contributions they'll convince their sugar daddy congress people that they're so “business friendly” that they'll just go ahead and cancel those loans for them. Because they're just so “business friendly” they'll gladly forgive those “factory loans” of course people with student loans won't get their loans forgiven because that would be “bad for the economy”.

Naturally when asked about the factories. That they were supposed to build with that epic fuckton of money that they were supposed to use to build factories?

Fact Trees?

Fact trees?

“What are theses “Fact Trees” that you ask about? Those sound like the things we cut down to get more money"

Their CEO's won't have Golden Parachutes, they'll be riding around on diamond encrusted platinum paragliders.

In a couple of years there will be another politician that will be hailed as a “hero” because they'll cancel the tariffs. But because of “inflation” the prices will rise another 10%.

And like they do with Reagan right now Dems will spend the next 40 years blaming everything on Trump. While they don't actually do anything. Because doing things isn't what Dems do. And GOP will be too busy cashing in their THICC payouts.

Other countries will be too scared to do any business with the US because it would just take a crazy president with a wild butt hair and they'll be slapped with insane tariffs again.

Mom & Pop stores have finally gone the way of the Dodo. As the only companies that will be able to do any business are the super corporations. They've finally gotten rid of Social Security and Medicare like they've been talking about for decades. Because 1. Why give money to poor people when we could just give it to rich people. And 2. There won't be enough people in the working class to pay into it anyway. All of those “dumb, lazy” Millennials who have paid into it our entire lives are just being “entitled” when we expect to get our cut.

That last part might have been off topic. But seriously I've heard more about Social Security being canceled long before I get to it more than I've actually been told of what it actually is. Of course they won't get rid of the tax, they'll just stop paying it out. Or rather, they'll keep paying it out, you'll just have to wait until you're 115 years old before you can retire, and you have to be a Billionaire
