My Opinion of What's Going to Happen with Trump's Tariffs

Warning political opinion about something that I know very little about inbound. I don't have a crystal ball and I can't tell the future, but this is my guess of what is going to happen. I would love to be proven wrong. And it might be a bit rambley as I wrote this from notes that I made on my phone over the last couple of weeks.      Apparently there have been some serious tariffs put into place. I honestly know very little about what tariffs are/do/work. I've looked it up and tariffs and they seem to be a kind of tax on imports. And naturally the talking heads (not the band) have seem to have taken their sides. The opposition is saying that he's putting extra taxes on everything. And the taxes will destroy the worlds economy. The proponents say that it will be great because it will force companies to build factories here state side.      Pre-post Edit: I guess that President Trump has pushed back when the tariffs are going to go into place. Keto Week 1 (Day 14)
Sober Month 3 (Day 108)

YMCA: No

Good drop in weight today. Still up for the month, but I'm not too worried about that. It's only 1.4 lbs (0.63 kg) from the record for the year and the month is just getting started. It's kind of strange how it's only and already April so far. This year is blazing by and also seemingly stretching on for forever.

Was kinda slow getting up this morning. I barely had time to weigh in and cook breakfast before I had to run out of the door for work. Breakfast was strip steak and eggs. But that's going to be the last steak and eggs for a while. The strip steaks came in packs of 3 for about $35 and the bacon comes in $15 packs that last for about a week and a half. So the bacon and eggs seems to be a lot more economical.

I don't know if it was the weather or what but I felt really droopy this morning also. It was another dark cloudy day. Another day where if it were a bit warmer it would be perfect, but it's still just blustery and cold. I was supposed to be supervisor all day, but it was so busy I had to be on the register all day. The first guy that came through made me nervous about the rest of the day. He was wearing a button up shirt, but his belly was so big and distended the buttons were holding on for dear life. He only had a couple of 2 liters of the store brand soda which came out to $2.04. So I tell him his total. And he shouts out what sounds like “alsdfjapwtrjuapqwertgjaw JELLYBEANS!” I have no idea what he just said. So I asked him to repeat himself. He just yelled out “JELLYBEANS?” I was kind of taken aback because his entire demeanor just flipped. He seemed to be quite jovial and then suddenly, “JELLYBEANS? I'M JUST ASKING A QUESTION!!” Um, you're not asking a question, you're just shouting out jellybeans and throwing a question mark on the end. He paid with a food stamp card and shouted out, “HOW ABOUT YOU GO F**K YOURSELF!” and stormed out. If he would have said that three seconds earlier I would have canceled his payment and refused service. But he had already paid. I don't know what his problem was.

I've heard that there are laws in several states that will restrict the sale of candy and soda on food stamps which I am in favor of. It really is quite disgusting IMO how much of food stamps just goes to junk food. A cursory Google search says that only about 5%-10% of Food stamps is spent on soda. But it is the biggest single thing that people spend their benefits on. I don't know how much of that is relying on self reporting. A shocking thing is that I've seen some reports that up to 40% of Coca-cola's. Pepsi-Cola doesn't report their revenue sources, but I've also seen that people buy more Pepsi than Coke so it would be logical that a good chunk of their profit comes from food assistance. If those facts are true they're going to be fighting like TIGERS to keep that gravy train a rolling.

At lunch I bought the stuff to make Taco Salad. It was technically following the meal plan for the week because the ground beef was one of the things that was on the list. It was only about $10 for the salad stuff. But as I was buying things I went ahead and picked up a pack of the Jonsonville Jalapeno Cheddar Smoked Sausages. I was kicking myself for buying them because those were definitely NOT on the list.

They guy that I was irritated by last night is on really thin ice with the Back-Up Customer Service Manager. it's too long to go into on here, but the short of it is that he messed up the computer in Customer Service so she had to do three hours of work before she could even do the book keeping to get today started.

The other day got an email from Indeed (not sponsored) that there was position available for a records management role at a storage place here in town. From what I'm reading of the job it would be exactly what I would want in a job. but I'm really not in the financial position to just quit the job I have right now. Not sure of how much of that is a real concern or just excuse to not do something new. I have literally $18 in my savings accounts. But am I ever going to be in the "right" financial position to quit? It pays 50 cents less than I'm making now, but dealing with records on computers has to be so much less stressful than dealing with people at registers and supervising idiots running registers.

I was going to edit the recipe video today, but before work I slept in. At lunch I was busy cooking the taco salad. And after work and after reset time I started to, but when I opened the editing software it needed an update. By the time it got done updating I wouldn't have had time to edit that video and write this post.

I'm going to blame it on the weather, but when I got home I spent the evening listening to Pandora's Halloween Party Station. (Not Sponsored)  Listening to that really fit this evening.
