Sober Month 10 (Day 309)
God that was so satisfying this morning paying all of the bills off. It's been since March since I've been pushing bills around and pulling all of the money out of savings to just keep up with the previous months bills. I had always had the current months bill payed off by the end of the month, but that had always left the next month bill already due because the month had just started. So I finally have the months bills payed before the month started. So I'm technically double paying the internet bill and paying the car insurance at the beginning of the month and again at the end of the month so it looks like the car insurance and internet bill are double the regular amount, but all of the bills are payed for November and the next several paychecks are just going to be income. Well other than the paycheck for the week after next as that's when I'm budgeting for the Rent Check to come through. It looks like it'll be easier to pay December's bills on December 4th instead of the last week of November like I would like, but at least all of the bills will be paid and done at the very beginning of the month without spreading them all through the month and just finishing the paying the bills just as the next set of bills are starting to come due like I've been doing for the last six or seven months. A great thing about getting caught up on bills is that I was able to do it without relying on a gift or the tax return, or any other extenuating circumstance (not sure if that's the right term, but that's what I'm going with) It's just the paycheck and savings.
When I went to work I was in such a high mood. After dealing with a couple of idiots I had to remind myself to keep it cool as when I get into a really high energetic mood that energy can quickly flip into a really energetic anger. So that is something that I have to be careful about. I did notice that I really didn't feel like I needed an energy drink this afternoon. I did eventually grab one, but that was only after I noticed that I wasn't craving an energy drink so I eventually talked myself into having one. But if I didn't think of having one I wouldn't have had one. (If that makes sense, I'm starting to get tired.) And I only had the one energy drink instead of the two or three that I sometimes do. I do wonder if it was because I was in just a great mood and I wasn't dragging on like I normally do.
It was cold as balls in the apartment again today. I was wondering if I should ask Roommate if he was going to call the landlord today, or just be snide about him not calling yet. But he hadn't gotten up before I left for work, and an hour into my shift he texted me asking me to call the Landlord. I'm not sure if I'm more irritated at him for pawning it off on me, or me for going ahead and just calling the Landlord. I am impressed with the Landlord. I left a voicemail when I was on lunch. But I told him what time I got off and he called back later in the evening and he said that he'd contact the AC guy and have the AC guy call Roommate to coordinate a time when he could come out and fix the heater. Landlord did promise to have it fixed by tomorrow. I see all kinds of horror stories online of people complaining about their landlords, but I seem to have a pretty good one. He always gets things fixed as soon as I report issues.
As I was scheduled to work another lopsided day with a 5/2.5 hour split I decided to put a rack of ribs in the oven to bake for the few hours I had left at work.
I do have to admit that although it is CONSIDERABLY cooler in the apartment than I would prefer, the quiet is nice. The HVAC system isn't blowing, the fans are off, and the environmental system High School next door isn't going so it is quite quiet in the apartment.
Tomorrow is going to be weird. Halloween on a Friday. Expecting people to act weird. I did consider walking to work tomorrow to see if any kids were trick or treating, but then I realized that I work 10-7 tomorrow and that's an hour earlier than I normally work and I'm using that as an excuse to not bother with the extra walking.
