Sober Month 9 (Day 290)
I really need to start taking advantage of my mornings. I just keep sitting around counting down how much time I have until I have to go to work and not much else.
Just as I was starting to cook breakfast the maintenance guy for the condo complex startled me as just as I turned on the stove I heard a banging on the door and a frantic ringing of the doorbell. I wasn't sure what was going on and I recognized the guy. He asked if the red car in the parking lot was mine. I was a bit nervous for the asking. He asked me if I had any other cars. I was getting scared why he was asking about my car. Be he just said that he was repainting the lines and numbers on the parking lot for the building.
Not much happened today. Did have a kid getting an attitude about being a carryout. He is a new hire and he just would not offer to help people out with their groceries. I kept telling him that was his job and that's what he was supposed to be doing. I don't think he ever did help anybody out. Yesterday when I was scheduled to carryout an older guy told me that people don't ask anymore. I really am trying to convince these kids that if they're carryouts their job is to carry out people's groceries. You don't wait for people to ask you to do your job; you offer to do your job.
I did have a weird moment at work. A guy working in the Customer Service desk asked me what I would feel like if I woke up tomorrow and found out that my Grandfather had been an agent for the KGB for the last 15 years. I got to say that would be really surprising, considering that the KGB hasn't been a thing for over 30 years, and Grandpa was a Marine during the cold war who had grew up in a small Kansas town. I wouldn't imagine that he'd have a lot of pro-Russian sentiments. And also he had passed away about five years ago due to Congestive Heart Failure. I tried to figure out what the hell the kid was talking about, but he wouldn't elaborate on the question.
When I came home for lunch Roommate was playing up the dog and got him all excited. It was funny because right as I made the sandwiches dude PLOPPED HIS ASS down right next to me. Dude was vibrating so hard he was about to phase into another plane of reality. Roommate said that when he was out on the road he would give the dog bologna as a treat. He kept putting his paw up as he was trained to when offered treats. But he's not getting my sandwiches. Roommate kept calling to the dog, but he was LOCKED IN on me.
Second half of work was active, but smooth.
When I got home the barricades were still up on the parking lot for the building where I live. The Maintenance Guy said that the paint would have been dry in a couple hours this morning, but I'm guessing that he's going to block off the lot for a full 24 hours just in case. So he doesn't accidentally paint somebody's car or have car tires track paint all over the lot. I had parked on the curb, I'm sure it'll be fine.
Getting home I made Loaded Mac and Cheese. That's Boxed Mac and Cheese, ground beef, onion soup mix, and diced tomatoes. It was a good combination, but I just can't help but to think that it's missing something.
Roommate was looking over and getting excited about websites that he could look up designing the robots for the board gaming campaign that we'll be playing next week.
