Damn, it was cold this morning. It wasn't too bad once I got up and moving, but getting started kinda sucked. Still not as bad as it could be this time of year. It should be fixed this afternoon though so looking forward to that.
Nice number on the scale. I wish I could be confident with the number it gave me. But it was the same number on multiple stands on it
Roommate did send me a text while I was at work and the heater is now up and running. The AC Guy also installed a new thermostat. Roommate said that it was a “Smart” thermostat but it doesn't seem to have any kind of WIFI connections or anything so I'm not sure how “smart” it is, kind of hoping that it isn't a “Smart Device” But it has a Digital Screen so it is easier to read what the temperature is set to and what the temperature in the apartment is. I'm not opposed to new technologies, but I'm not sure if I would want a thermostat that could be controlled by an app
And I do have to say that it is still a lot quieter at lunch. It only turned on just before I left to go back to work. But for the most of the time I was home it wasn't blowing and there weren't any fans going so it was quite peaceful. Well, other than the dog running around getting excited because I had came in and warmed up my lunch. (dude is a hyperactive ping pong ball whenever I walk in the door. )
I was expecting the second half of work to be a really quick boring run as I was scheduled to be in Customer Service for the three hours of the second half. However when I got back from lunch I was told that the elderly lady who was out for medical reasons wasn't able to come back to work because she was on “weight restrictions” so she wasn't able to push carts or pick up any boxes or bags heavier than a pound or two...she's a carryout. Weight restrictions that can't let you pick up anything heavier than a pound or two? How did she get a work release if she is a carryout and can't pick up anything heavier than a pound and can't push a cart? She was sent home, but don't worry about covering her hours, “Mark works this evening.” so they had me being the second carryout with the other carryout being an elderly man, and I had to jump on the other register because the teenager who they scheduled to be the supervisor kept disappearing, and the lady running customer service kept yelling for me. I would like for someday a short second half just be a short stand around shift.
Since it was Halloween today I decided to watch a horror movie after work this evening. I decided on Texas Chainsaw Massacre. For being a slasher film about a guy wielding a chainsaw there is a surprising lack of gore in the movie. I was expecting the five victim characters be turned into a spray of salsa the entire time. There were some pretty brutal deaths, but there was more time building up to the deaths. And one or two really good jump scares in there too. That one girl has some serious lungs. She spent the last 45 minutes of the movie screaming her lungs out. And I have to say I didn't expect that Gas Station Manager to do that in the second third of the movie.
Roommate had bought some candy for any trick or treaters to come by. He did have the porch light on and when I got home from work I did think about knocking to make him come to the door. But I didn't want to get the dog all excited and jumpy after dealing with work. I asked if any kids had came by and he said that there weren't any. And when I was out driving to and from work I didn't see any kids in costume. And there weren't any porch lights on anywhere in town between the store and my house. It is kind of sad that it seems to be a dead tradition.
The refrigerator seems to have started smelling bad again. I'm going to defrost it again on Monday, I'm just hoping that the food says good for another couple of days. The butter seems to be solid and the milk doesn't seem to be curdled so I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe I should just refrain from making any recipes with shrimp in it in the future.
