Sober Month 10 (Day 304)

Wow, that was a drop on the scale this morning. I thought the scale was glitching, but the weight was consistent for several times I stepped on it.

Slept in a bit so I wasn't able to do anything before work other than get breakfast done. The sleep tracker says I didn't fall asleep until after 3am which was strange because I even went to bed a little early. But it was 9:30 before I could wake up, and I still felt tired. 

I was slow getting up to the front of the store as I had today and tomorrow mixed up and I had thought that I was supervisor all day, and I didn't think anybody was waiting for me to come up. So when it was eight minutes after I was supposed to get to the front Screech at self checkout was glaring at me as I was supposed to let her out for her lunch break. And when she got back I was the carryout for two hours. Oops

While I was running self checkout I was more than a little overwhelmed. It was coming up on the lunch rush and it was raining so a lot of people were freaking out about the weather. And it was also the Weekend so kind of hit the ground running getting to work.

Had another guy come through where I do kind of want him to call and complain. Guy had ten 2 Litters of soda. Well, the limit on the Digital Coupon is 5. So he had me take five of the bottles of soda off of his order. I was running around crazy busy, but I was able to take the sodas off of his order. And I had set them on the cashiers station as I ran around. He seemed to be upset that I had taken the sodas away. And shouted that he'd go grab more. But the Digital Coupon is only single use, you can use it up to 5 times in one transaction, but it's only good for one transaction. He just declared that I just didn't know what I was talking about and when he came back to the front he scanned the paper for the digital coupons. But since he already used it the coupon wouldn't work again. He demanded that I just give him a new shoppers card so he could use the coupon on the new shoppers card. I refused so he stormed up to the customer service desk to get a new shoppers card. I tried to call up to the desk to tell them to not give him a new card because he was trying to scam the digital coupons. But I was too busy running the Self Checkout. But when he came back to the Self Checkout I had voided his order and announced that I had refused service to him. He told me that he will go to the other stores. There's nothing that I can do to stop him, but if he tries the same thing at the other stores they should stop him the same way I did. But that would depend on them actually doing their jobs. He shouted that he'd never shop at my store ever again! I never take that threat as very threatening. Either he'll be back next week or I'll have to deal with the literal thousands of other people that I have to deal with each day. One person won't be missed. I do kind of wish he'd call and complain and I would like to cleverly ask if there were limits on digital coupons if they want to make a deal out of it.

It was raining a lot today. And, despite the weather, I was glad to get away from the self checkout. It kind of sucked as it was a 3/5 split so I had to work three hours before lunch. I did spend almost an entire hour out in the rain getting carts in as the previous carryouts didn't get any carts in so they were all outside when it was my turn to carryout. But still better than running self checkout. I did have a lot of people complain that their cart was wet as I was bringing them in from the rain. And I couldn't get them to understand that all of the carts were out in the rain and if WATER IS FALLING FROM THE SKY things outside are going to be wet. 

I had lunch at the store. The excuse I went with was that I was saving gas.  But I just didn't want to go out into the rain again. And I'm sure that I could come up with a dozen other excuses. But I'm still under budget for allowance so I'm good on that. Strangely I was feeling really tired after lunch. Carb crash probably and I had to have a Sugar Free Red Bull to keep my eyes open. (not sponsored) And that second half just dragged on FOR FOREVER. 

There was a guy that was in a bad situation, but it's hard to feel bad for him. The ATM had an "Out of Order" sign on it for the last couple of days. Nobody seems to know why it had that sign on it. A coworker asked me why it had that sign on it. A little while later I was paged to the front because a guy was upset he had tried to withdraw a couple of hundred dollars out of the machine. He was really hopping about insisting that there wasn't an out of order sign on the machine when he tried to use it. Which was odd because there was one 15 minutes before. I can just about disassemble the Self Checkout lanes blindfolded, I can clear a jam in the Coin Counting Machine. But if you have a problem with the ATM, that's unfortunate. And if you took an Out of Order sign off a machine to use it, you kind of deserve what you get.
