Sober Year 1 (Day 386)
Keto Day 2 (5/365 Days 2026 Keto)

Weight is up 1 pound (~0.5 kg) I'm not too worried about the day to day ups and downs. I see an up weight like a opposing team in football getting a touchdown. Yeah, it kind of sucks, but the game isn't over yet. Mom made a Facebook post saying that she's not going to weigh in outside of her doctor's visits. And I understand and respect that as she's focusing on “Non Scale Victories” And I respect that, but I personally like to see the line move over time.

This morning my feet weren't hurting as much as previous days. I'm not sure if that's because I've been off of my feet for the last couple of days or if something else. Legs were stiff and sore this evening after work. But only after getting up after I sat down for a while

I ran Self Checkout for an hour when I got to work. Nothing too bad happened while I let the lady out for her lunch. It took her a bit to figure out what I was doing as she usually goes to lunch at noon and I was there to let her out at 11am. The only real frustration was that I never had time to write any notes as every time I got the paper and pen out somebody needed help with something. Nothing worth complaining about it's just the type of busy that makes me wonder how the other cashiers can almost take a nap at the cashier station as I'm being flung around like crazy whenever I'm at Self Checkout. There was another issue that came up that made me impatient for the cashier to come back from lunch. I REALLY had to pee. I'm not sure if it's going back and forth on the Keto or what but I've been peeing like crazy over the last couple of days.

Right before lunch I got into an argument with a customer as I saw that she and the older man that she was with had one of the small carts LOADED up with the 5lb rolls of ground beef and I noticed that the Self Checkout Cashier was manually ringing them up at $5 each. Those 5lb rolls of ground beef are usually $25 each and she's ringing them up at $5? I ran back to the meat department and saw the sign say $5.99/lb sticking out of the rolls of ground beef. I hurried back to the register to tell her that they were NOT $5 a piece, they're $5.99/lb. Lady demanded to see the sign that I was referring to. So I lead her back to the meat department and by luck the meat manager was back there as well. She pointed to another sign. The $5.99/lb was for the 3lb roll of ground beef, the $5.00 sign that she saw said $5/lb. And on the bottom of that sign had $9.99 each. So she demanded that they be rang up for $5 each. Even though the manager and I were both saying that the sign said $9.99 each. And if you're being picky $5/lb for a five pound roll would be $25 for the roll.

Second half of the day was way too busy to take any notes. Again it was, mostly, smooth. There was a guy who yelled at me, “Oh, is this one of those 'bag your own stuff' stores?” We only had one cashier scheduled and I was supposed to be supervisor, but I was stuck on a register and both of the carryouts were outside helping people. I told him that we're going as fast as we can. He just said, “There was a time when you actually had people helping your customers!” Yes, there was a time when they did have enough help during the day. But that time is long gone. I don't know I kind of want to say that they realized that if they had to hire help, they'd have to pay the help. And they don't want to pay people so we don't have help. There is a rumor that we might get an inch or two of snow this weekend so people are swarming into the store.

Speaking about not getting paid and not having help. I'm kind of worried about my hours at the store. Last week I was scheduled 38.75 hours because I'm an old hire and my holiday pay hours are counted as overtime. Than this week I was scheduled for 38.75, odd, but whatever. But then next week's hours are 38 hours. I'm Full Time so I am supposed to be getting 40 hours per week. Last year they started to schedule me 39 hours per week. They said that was becasue they didn't want anybody to have overtime. Which kind of made sense. But that wouldn't make much sense if they're starting to schedule me for 38 hours. With a little bit of creative rounding in the math that would basically put me down almost $90 a month, just because they're not giving me all of the hours that they're supposed to be giving me. And since there's no difference between a bill and making less, I don't know if I can afford an $90/month bill.

On the good side the plan of buying a case of energy drinks so I don't buy more each day is working out so far and I didn't spend any money today. And won't need to buy anything for the rest of the week.

When I got home Roommate announced that he had already fixed himself a dinner so I didn't need to cook for him. Which was the plan as I was going to bake the tenderloin that he said was making him sick. When I cooked and ate it he was coughing and gagging from, "the smell" grumbling about how he hates living in this "fu**ing sh**hole"

I'm going to post this and try to meditate. It's been a while since I've tried that.
