It would be nice if that continued. Didn't really do much before work. I worked 10:30 to 7:30. So it was a bit early for me to work. Not early enough to effect me much other than counting down how much time was left before I had to go to work. Mom prepared Breakfast this morning. She told me that she felt guilty for not cooking dinner last night, but she wasn't feeling well. She's been having some serious sinus issues lately. As I had threw away the last of the Apple Cider Vinegar yesterday I just had the coffee straight this morning. It tasted quite bitter. I'm used to having the sourness of th...

Sober Year 1 (Day 399)
Keto Day 0 (17/365 Days 2026 Keto)

First time in a while that Roommate didn't wake me up in the middle of the night screaming at the void. So hopefully he's feeling better. And during the day he did cough and gag less than he had been before.

Today was an active day, mostly in the kitchen. I did the typical grocery shopping while Roommate was at his appointment. As I did my shopping at my store, and my store doesn't carry the Almond Flour that I was needing for the Fathead Pizza that I was planning on making for dinner tonight I was going to go over to the Big Store on the other end of town. But just as I was finishing the main shopping Roommate called and said he was done with his appointment. As I was grabbing the Almond Flour Roommate got stuff to make Slow Cooker Spaghetti. I was curious enough on how that would work I decided to go along with it.

With the groceries I bought some of the Strawberry Shot Sugar Free Monsters. I was curious about the flavor. I poured it into a glass to see if it was red. And it was a strange color. It was kind of red with a bit of a kind of green tinge to it. It was kind of a mystifying glowing type look to it.

I am a little annoyed at his, “Hey, I have an idea that goes against your diet, and you're cooking it!” mentality. But again I was really wanting to see how preparing spaghetti in a slow cooker would turn out. He got the idea to make spaghetti for dinner because he had some ground turkey in the freezer and wanting to use it, and I guess he was tired of just having meat for dinner each night. The ground turkey was in the freezer for a while and he didn't know what to do with it as when he ordered it on delivery he had intended them to deliver three 1lb rolls of ground turkey, but they had delivered a single 3 lb container. I knew it was possible to cook meat from frozen. But good lord that lump of turkey took FOREVER to cook. Usually when I'm cooking meat from frozen it's in the one pound flat of ground beef that I had vacuum sealed. But this was a giant brick of turkey that I had to keep flipping and scraping off the bits as it thawed out.

As the turkey eventually cooked I took the time to bake some chicken from frozen. AND THAT TOOK LESS TIME TO BAKE. Seriously does turkey have some sort of mystical thermal insulating properties?

It was kind of funny that Roommate suggested spaghetti though, as I'm making Pizza Casserole for the lunch plan this week and was planning on making Fathead Pizza (now sometime this week) it's going to be kind of an Italian themed week. And I'm thinking of making Fathead Lasagna for lunch next week.

The trick of making spaghetti in the slow cooker is to brown the meat combine with sauce, let it set on low for 6 hours; and then put the noodles on high for 45 minutes. It was a chance to try the garum that Roommate bought a couple of months ago. He had saw a Tasting History video on it and wanted to try it, but never got around to trying it. He opened it and took a whiff, he was NOT impressed with the smell. It does smell like rancid feet (it is a fermented fish sauce after all). But it does have a good salty flavor that enhances the flavor of the meat in the dish.

And yeah that resets the Keto Kount right as I was getting to the second week. But it's just one day. At least I'm still keeping count of the days of the year that I'm keeping to the diet.
