Keto Day 2 (19/365 Days 2026 Keto)
I was going to go buy new shoes before work this morning. But I was scheduled to work 10:30 to 7:30 and slept in a bit this morning. I was able to finish eating the bacon and eggs for breakfast, but I wasn't able to finish the coffee. This morning I was planning on cooking a pork steak for breakfast as when I was doing the meal planning for the week I noticed that one of the pork "steaks" was the kind of knobby end of the pork butt that I had cut into steaks. But when I got it out of the fridge it was still frozen from Tuesday. I should be glad that the fridge is keeping things cold, but I had already melted the butter in the pan in preparation for the steak. So I just switched back to bacon and eggs, just with a bit of butter mixed in as well. I do have to say that eggs fried in butter taste AMAZING.
The first half of the day I was really wishing that I was able to have gotten the shoes bought this morning as I was limping HARD. The left foot was seriously hurting as one of the shoelace “eyes” (I think they're called) had snapped open. I was able to re-lace the shoe to avoid that one lace eye but the shoe wasn't tight correctly so it was kind of lose and worn out for being an entire year old. So the limping in that foot was making my leg stiff and my back start to hurt because I wasn't walking right. And naturally the first half was the long half today.
People were all insane all day long today. People are acting like they've never seen snow before. IT'S AN ARCTIC WINTER POLAR VORTEX! Yeah, we get those, I'm pretty sure that the last couple of years we've had arctic vortexes. I don't remember hearing about those until a couple of years ago, but it doesn't seem like they're very rare, at least anymore anyway. People shouting out, “THIS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT” are confusing me as we're getting these every couple of years. And the “once in a lifetime event” really looses it's punch when we're seeing “once in a lifetime events” every couple of months for several years.
I was able to buy the shoes during my lunch break. The store where I buy shoes from no longer keeps the half sizes in stock. So I wear a thirteen and a half wide size shoe. They said that they could order a pair of shoes and they'd let me know when the shoes came in. I was getting pretty desperate for a new pair of shoes as I couldn't even put my left heel down without wincing in pain. They said that I could try a size 13 or a size 14. I told her that I'd try the size 14. And it took her three tries to bring out the right kind of shoes as she was “just so scared of the weather coming up” I deiced to go with the size 14, hoping that wearing the larger size doesn't cause drama. The shoes seem to fit alright. They were a bit loose when I came home to eat lunch, but tightening the laces even tighter seemed to correct that.
Eating that Pizza Casserole was pretty nice. But there was a lot of grease in it. I scooped up the grease with a spoon, but that hot grease trickled down the wrong pipe that made me cough pretty hard.
The feet were feeling a bit better the second half of work. The back was also a bit stiff and sore. I'm guessing there will be some healing involved until that feels back to normal. I was getting kind of frustrated as the carts kept ending up outside and I was the only carryout going out to collect them. And the Supervisor was freaking out as everybody was running around panic buying. Just before I was scheduled to be off I was running some abandoned merchandise back on the shelves and came by one of the store managers stocking bread. She told me that we had received an entire pallet of bread and the one rack of bread was all that we had left as it was flying off of the shelves as she was stocking it. So if people come in tomorrow demanding bread, “well we're sorry you're too late” Supposedly the next delivery of bread is scheduled to come in on Saturday, you know during THE EPIC WINTER VORTEX! So who knows when the next bread delivery will come in. And how people will react when they find out that the store doesn't have any more bread for them to panic buy
It took a couple of hours of recovery when I came home before I could set up dinner. This morning when I woke up I thought I was going to cook the Cheeseburger Soup for dinner tonight. But even after recovering for a while I just really didn't want to cook anymore so I just put some brats in the oven.
