Kind of giggled at having “Sausage Egg and Cheese” for breakfast as that's a meal from McDonald's. Just their breakfast comes on a biscuit and I skipped the biscuit. I wasn't eager to go back to work as today was the first day back from vacation. I left a few minutes early to return some of the snack food that I bought for last weeks road trip as I didn't open the trail mix or the 2 bags of Pork Rinds. Of course I could have snacked on those over the next several days. But I really didn't want the nuts that was...

Keto Month 2 (Day 67) (117/365 Days 2026 Keto)

I was going to wake up really early to take the road trip, but when I woke up the phone wasn't plugged in right so it had to charge for a while as I didn't want to head out to a place that I've never been with a phone that wasn't charged up all of the way.

I left the house right around 8am. I had to go back in to grab the USB cable to the phone because the Bluetooth in my car isn't connecting anymore. But the annoying thing is that when I plugged the phone into the car the car just flashed “Unrecognized USB Device” and it would charge for a second or two, but then the plug would fall out.

I am glad that I let the phone charge before heading out as the car's GPS wouldn't recognize Castle Rock in the search of “Points of Interest” as I doubt it has an actual address. Searching for Castle Rock on the car's GPS brought up suggestions of “Castle Rock Garage” and “City of Castle Rock” and things like that. The phone did recognize the landmark.

Stopped by the store on the way out of town to pick up some snacks.

It was fun driving most of the way. It is always mind blowing to drive out into the open prairie. Just to let the eyes and soul open up and take in the great openness. I made a YouTube Short of the beauty of the open plain. The algorithm really seems to like the shorts as when I make a short it gets hundreds of views, but the regular videos can't even get a dozen.

There were some rough roads leading up to castle rock. There were the regular county dirt roads, but then the roads leading up to the rock itself just had these MASSIVE holes in them that just SLAMMED the car up and down into the hole. And a lot of the trail the car bottomed out on the middle of the road. When I got up to Castle Rock I looked under the car to see if anything was obviously damaged (not that I know what I was looking out anyway.) But was glad to see that there was a bottom plate across the bottom of the car, still don't think it's a good idea to smack that against the ground too much. And I'm sure that the suspension really wasn't a fan of the big holes that it kept dropping into. Interestingly enough the land around the rock was really compacted. If the road leading up to it was in that shape it wouldn't have been a problem. It was amazing to touch a piece of deep history like that. I've read online that it was a trail marker on what was known as the “Overland Trail” but I didn't see any kinds of markers that it was on any kind of trail. There were some interesting animal bits around the area.

It took another couple of hours of driving to get to Monument Rocks and on the way I grazed on the mixed nuts that I picked up at the store. I managed to munch the entire box of mixed nuts. Later in the evening I found that was a really bad idea.

It was a bit of a trek to get to Monument Rocks. The car GPS did recognize that landmark so I was able to follow the car's GPS to get there. But it was really annoying traveling the county roads as the GPS would have me turn North for a couple of miles, then West for a couple of miles, than North for a couple of miles, then West for a couple of miles. Then when I got to Highway 4, it had me drive south for I'm sure the entire distance that I went North/West/North/West/North/West. Then it had me go back into the county dirt roads. The GPS kept telling me to "Turn onto County Road 16" but each time "County Road 16" would come up on the map it was just a small break in the fence, it didn't even look like there was a road there. Just kind of an indention in the grass of a field. I was NOT going to take my Chrysler 300 out into somebody's pasture just because a GPS told me to. I've seen WAY too many funny stories online of people ending up in lakes and the such becasue they were, "just following the GPS"

I did finally find my way to the landmark. And that was GLORIOUS. I'm sure that I spend an hour or so making video clips of interesting things I saw around Monument Rocks. Then I noticed that the phone was at less than 50% so I figured that I'd head home.

On the way out there I had turned off the radio as the stations that I have saved as presets are biased in Wichita and they faded out on the way out west. On the way back into town I thought it would be fun to listen to the stations static to hear them fade back in. But a frustration came up that I listened to for way too long. If a station has a frequency close to the station that you're tuned to it will kind of bleed into the station that you're listening to. And I guess out west there's a radio station that is pretty close to the 95.1 T-95 Rock station (not sponsored) that is a really right wing ""Christian"" Station. It's getting late and this post is long enough as it is so I don't want to get too far into politics or religion. (I still think I'll get in trouble with this opinion) But it is really hard to take MAGA people seriously when they claim that they don't worship him when they talk about him like that on their religious channels. And weird to hear them go so hard on "pro-life" and then immediately go into glorifying the war in Iran. I was really glad when the rock and roll station started to fade in, but then it was like a half an hour of commercial after commercial

On the way home I REALLY started regretting the fact that the only thing that I ate was Mixed Nuts and the only thing that I drank was Monster Energy. I had stopped in Great Bend to use the restroom. But right outside of that town my stomach started cramping up. Not to go into TMI territory, but it felt like I was having contractions going down Highway 50. I was SO glad to get to South Hutch. I'm pretty sure that I beat my weight loss goal in the bathroom of that gas station. And when I got home I was still burping up a storm and crapping like crazy.

I am now Forty Years Old...I'm not sure how I feel about that.
