Sober Month 7
(Day 235)
Keto Week 2 (Day 18)
Spent the entire morning checking and rechecking the bank balance. As of 11:45 no sign of the check being returned or any overdraft/return check fee. Still holding my breath on that. The lady from the bank yesterday might be right about them skipping the fee because the paycheck came through before Midnight last night/this morning. But the paycheck still shows as “Pending” but the Rent check doesn't show as pending anymore. So I'm still budgeting for the $29 fee. I haven't told Roommate or Landlord yet because if it goes through it isn't going to bother anybody.
I stood on the scale before breakfast, but was too distracted by financials to measure the waist. So I just put in the average for the month so far. I'm a little annoyed that the weight is up compared to yesterday, but fluctuations happen.
I decided to check my balance at an hourly rate and when I checked it at 1pm I saw that there was an Overdraft fee posted on my account. I have to say that was probably the most positive response that anybody had ever had to an overdraft fee on their account as I was excited to see the “Overdraft Fee” because it wasn't the “Returned Check Fee” I'm still going to be hesitant for the next 24 hours or so, but it looks like I'm out of the woods on that drama. And it would have been nice to have that $29 that I ended up spending on that fee. But at least I wasn't paying that fee and having that awkward conversation with the landlord and roommate, especially since Roommate had already given me his half of the rent and the $60 to help with bills.
Roommate was upset this morning because the last of his milk that he had has gone bad. As well as the yogurt that he had in the fridge. It had gone south a week and a half before the expiration date. Strangely the cream that I used in my coffee was still fine and the butter was still firm. The chuck roast that I had set up in the slow cooker didn't smell bad and was still red when I set up the cooker. I'll defrost the freezer again on Tuesday, but I don't remember ever having to do that this often before.
The Bell Pepper soup I had for lunch tasted alright, but the refrigerator did smell like the soup. So I'm not sure if that's a bad sign.
One good note is that the utility bills updated for next month. The gas bill is slightly more than last year, and a little more than average. However, excitingly, the Electricity bill is down $60 from last year. That's a 30% drop! And 22% lower than the average for September! And September is typically the most expensive month for that bill. I'm guessing because that is because of the AC use in August. My electricity bill is on the “Average Pay Plan” so it'll be a bit before the bill show that change. I'm going to attribute that to the new AC unit that the landlord had installed a couple months ago. A couple of years ago he had some new windows installed and had promised a drop in utilities. I hadn't noticed a change back then. But this change is noticeable.
Dinner tonight was a chuck roast that I put in the slow cooker with an onion and some BBQ Sauce. It wasn't the sugar free BBQ Sauce that I would normally buy because that was a bit more expensive than I was able to pick up this week. But I'm pretty sure that's Okay. If I understand right that's kind of known as "Dirty Keto"
Something I thought of at work is that it has been a while since I had those Johnsonville Jalapeno Cheddar Sausages, and then yesterday I had bought a pack for a snack and to kind of do the check cheat to have some spending money while the rent check did the thing through the account. And it has been a while since I had that amount of pain in my knees, ankles, and feet. And then last night after I ate those sausages my feet felt like they were dunked in lava. Kind of makes me think that there might be a connection. I'm not sure if it's seed oils in the sausages, maybe a reaction to something else in the sausages or something else. But it does kind of make me think that there is a connection to those sausages and that level of pain. I think I'm going to wait a while (a couple of months or so) and then try those sausages again to see if the pain comes back.
