When I packaged the pork steaks, as usual, there were a couple of the bits that were a bit too small to be significant dinners so I set them aside to have for breakfast.
Slept alright last night, but just couldn't convince myself to get out of bed this morning. I knew that there were things that I wanted to do. But I just wanted to lay there more than get things done. I wasn't sick or feeling bad. I just kind of wanted to lay there.
I still hadn't received any notification of a bill from the Storage place. I was going to stop by there to ask if there was some kind of miscommunication or misunderstanding. They advertised that the first month was free, so that might be the reason that I hadn't received a bill I was assuming that the free month was going to be April and I was expecting a bill for May. But their payment schedule might be paying for the previous month and the free month was April and the bill for May will come in the end of May. I don't know I was going to stop by before work and ask about it, but lost track of time so I didn't have time to stop. I figured that I'd stop by during lunch.
I was supposed to work as a carryout for a while and then work the desk for the rest of the night. However the Assistant Customer Service Manager had overtime so she had to leave early and I was kind of shoved into the desk. Supervisor kept asking me why I was in the desk while I was scheduled to be a carryout, but she did seem to understand when I said that I was covering for the other lady because she had overtime. When I was a carryout I had noticed that a lot of the shelving tags on the soda was all for the previous week. The new ad comes out on Wednesday and I was surprised to see that none of the tags were changed. Apparently the tags weren't shipped to the store and instead of going through the store to take down the old tags the person in charge of changing the tags just went home as she didn't have the new tags to put up anyway. This caused a bit of confusion as last week the Coke and Dr Pepper Products were on sale Buy Three Get Three Free (not sponsored) and this week I'm pretty sure that the Pepsi and 7-Up products are buy three get three and the coke is buy two get one free. (Not sponsored, but I swear work for psychopaths) I took a couple of trips down the soda aisle taking down tags, but I kept getting called back up to the front.
I figured that my lunch is usually at 3pm. So it wouldn't be a problem to go by the storage place office. Then I noticed that I was a carryout until 4. Thinking that my lunch would be at four, still no problem I looked it up and the storage place office is open until 5:30, no problem. Then I saw that my lunch was actually 5pm to 6pm. Okay, I'll have to hurry, but should still be fine. Dealt with some of the drama that I'll mention in a bit. But I was trying to hurry out of the store, but people kept swarming in front of me. I finally got out to my car and it was the 5pm rush. I needed to rush to the other side of town, but I had to stop every other block for the horrific traffic light system. I'm pretty sure that one of the stop lights had the traffic backed up for two entire blocks. When I got to the storage office, it was 5:20! I thought, "Alright I got there!" but when I tried the door it was locked and the lights were off in the office. I don't know if the hours on Google are inaccurate, or if the guy working there decided to duck out early. But I was really quite annoyed that I still hadn't had a chance to talk to the storage guy about my bill. I can afford the bill, I'm just really wanting to know when to pay them. The lock is still on my unit so I'm not worried about it being closed off. I'm just not sure what's going on with them.
The bit roast that I had brought for lunch turned out really well. I was nervous about it with how tough the steak turned out and this morning when I was portioning out the third serving from the other two boxes the meat felt tough. I went ahead and bought some plastic flatware to eat it with as I didn't have any utensils and the forks that used to be in the break room seemed to have been removed. But I really barely needed the plastic knife that I was worried wouldn't be able to handle the meat. And drinking the gravy left in the dish was really quite nice.
What really kind of sucked was that the computer program that controlled the Money Services that most of the desk does was down. There was a time when Money Transfers, Money Orders, and Bill Payments were all done in different programs. But somebody had the “great” idea of combining all of those services into one program. So when that program goes down all of the services go down. I called tech support to see if they were able to help, but they said that it was a company wide issue. It was effecting the entire district, along with four other districts. I'm not sure how big a district is, but it is all of the stores in town. I went ahead and made several signs explaining that the money services were down. But still had to explain to several people that they couldn't get Money Orders even though they were standing in front of the sign saying that the money order services were down. One lady started screaming at me because the sign was misleading as she wasn't trying to send or receive money she was wanting to buy a money order. It doesn't matter how much you scream, if the money orders are broken for the entire district, they're going to be down for everybody. A little after she left I answered a phone call from another store in town the lady at the other store told me to stop sending people to her store as the money services are down for the entire district. I tried to tell her that I knew that, but then I heard the shouting lady in the background shouting that she wasn't wanting to send money, she was wanting to buy a money order!
The carryout kids kept telling me that I should be glad as I didn't have to worry about doing a lot of the job that I was supposed to be doing. I kept telling them to be quiet as every time they said that somebody would come up to the desk with lottery tickets and asking if they could cash their pay check. I would tell people that I could cash their pay check, then they'd point out the sign saying that the money services were down and ask if they could cash their paychecks. People were buying and cashing in lottery tickets all of the way up until 9 when the desk closes. Some other people when closing the desk turn away people after 8:45. But I found it was easier to just help the people than to stand there arguing with them.
When I got home Mom was already in bed so I grilled some hamburger patties for myself. I used the last of the sliced cheese so I'll pick up some more soon.
Again making a late post, but I worked late and had a lot to say
