Sober Month 10 (Day 317)

It is amazing how quiet it is in the morning. I'm guessing that it's easier to put energy (heat) into an area than it is to take it out of an area (Air Conditioning) so the heater doesn't have to work as hard as the air conditioner so the heater is not on as much as the AC.

I found the tape measure. Surprise, surprise it was on my desk next to where my coffee cup was from yesterday.

When I got to work the manager told me to cover the hours of a guy who had just gotten rehired. There is a attendance point system that I don't feel like going into right now and he was late and called in too many times and was fired. He was able to talk his way into getting rehired, and now I'm covering his hours for the next three hours. I was really hoping that he wasn't done. But turns out that he was trained to work in the online pickup department and there was an issue with the schedule and somehow he was double scheduled to work both in the online pickup department and the Front End and the online pickup department is so understaffed they needed him to work over there. Which was a relief, we need any help we can get so it would be unfortunate to lose somebody who was just rehired. Still kind of annoying that management didn't bother telling me that we needed to cover his 12-4:15 shift today until 11:30.

Whoa Nelly! Today was crazy busy. Turns out the Food Stamps really were released today. And wow, people were living down to their stereotype. Full on First Friday Food Stamp Feeding Frenzy was in full effect and I was freaking fatigued. Middle of the afternoon a lady came in I was the only cashier, the only carryout was the mentally challenged girl that acts too scared to do anything. And the Supervisor at the time was covering the lunch for the Self Checkout person because we were understaffed. People kept shouting that we were out of carts. But there wasn't anything that I could do. There WAS NO MORE HELP! A lady started shouting at me because she was “forced” to go out into the parking lot to find her cart so she could use her cart to do her shopping. Okay? We still didn't have any help! Eventually the Self Checkout person came back in the Supervisor girl opened another register and I went out to gather carts with a guy that came in to work the customer service desk. But there just weren't many carts out in the parking lot, they were all in use. I was scheduled to be a carryout for a bit before lunch and the lady came through with the stereotypical cartload of Food Stamp junk food. Several hundred dollars worth of just pure junk. I didn't call her out on the junk food because “Customer is always right in matters of taste” the “”food”” is covered by food stamps so she could buy that with food stamps. What was really infuriating was when she was done checking out I offered to help her out with her two cart loads of groceries, she turned down the help. What's annoying about that is the way carts get back into the store is by the carryouts collecting carts after helping people out with their groceries. But she got hers so it doesn't matter any more.

There was an interesting moment when the police showed up as apparently an old guy threatened the Bakery Manager. I didn't hear what was going on but he didn't like that she got in his way so he raised his fist to her so management called the police because we really can't have people fighting in the store. As the older guy was getting escorted from the store he shouted that he'll “never come back here again!” I had to chuckle because yeah, that's what happens when you're banned.

Strangely a raw spot is developing on the inside of my left wrist. It's right were the buckle of the watch strap is. I'm not sure what's causing that. I've had this watch for a while so it's not like its a new watch or anything.

Worked with the AI some more to get it to come up with a new graph that shows better lines. But it doesn't want to show graphs any more. But it is generating a python code to paste into Google Colab. The first attempt worked. But when I made a correction to the allowance the code just shows an error instead of a graph. I'm starting to wonder if that's going to be worth the effort. I already have the Financial program, and a spreadsheet comparing this years spending to last years spending. And every time I seem to get used to working with the AI it says that I've already reached the 'free' version and I could upgrade it. But I just don't want to add another bill right now.

I keep thinking that there was something else that there was something that I wanted to say on here, but I'm just tired.
