Haven't been feeling that great over the last couple of days. When the weather switches dramatically it really sets off my sinuses. And that was a heck of a swap in the weather. It was about 94 (34 C) one day and two days later it was 58 (14 C) and it felt like I got smacked in the face by a 2x4
Really fighting the motivation to not do anything the last several days. Not sure if it was because of the weather change, the fact that I was on vacation and not doing anything, or what. But I just couldn't find the motivation to do anything.
Yeah, back to work today as last week was the last week of vacation for the year. I think I have one more single day of PTO, but I'm not sure when to put that in for. Probably should think of that pretty soon, the end of the year has a lot of blackout weeks when you can't ask off because they'll need everybody working.
The other day I helped my Grandma set up the grocery store app on her phone so she could do online ordering. That's where she could set up an order and they'll take it out to her car for her so she doesn't have to walk around the store to shop. Some people think that when they shop like that they do less impulse buying, I assure you that isn't the case. But she did give me a container of the chili she made that night for lunch that I had today.
By the end of the night my left foot was really not happy about being back to work. Probably what happens when you sit around for an entire week and then jump back up to run around work.
There was a really disconcerting conversation. They're FINALLY updating the self checkout registers this week. And after the managers had left the guy at Customer Service answered the phone and apparently the technicians wanted to confirm that all of the new self checkout registers had arrived at the store...all twelve of the new registers. There seems to be a lot of confusion on how many registers were going to have after the upgrade. We currently have 6 self checkout registers and 5 regular registers. There was a rumor that they were going to take out 2 of the regular registers to install 2 of the style of self checkout register that has a conveyor belt on it. I would think that would suck because I'd bet money that it'd be one person running the 8 registers. But there was a planogram that showed a before and after and the updated version only showed the 6 self checkouts, however it showed register 7 with the cigarette corral that hadn't been there in several years now so who knows how old that plan was and if anything had changed in it. And now people are talking about installing an entire new set of self checkout registers like it would be 2 sets of 6. And again I'd bet money that it would be 1 cashier running all 12 registers.
I REALLY doubt that is what's going to happen, but if they did that I told the guy at the desk I'd put my two weeks in right at that moment. I keep getting emails from Indeed that the bank is hiring. I highly doubt that the bank starts out with the pay that I'm making at the store. But if they're expecting one cashier to run 8 to 12 registers at one time while being harassed by customers because regular registers are being phased out I think I would just be done there.
Again, I really, really doubt that's what's going on. But I can't help but wonder. Customer Service Manager told me that she and her backup are going to be working tomorrow night to start pulling money out of the old registers and I'm going to ask her what the plan is on this. But I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't tell her anything either.
When I got home Mom and Step-Dad were out so I grilled some cheeseburgers for myself. When they got home they mentioned my sister and her husband so I think they had dinner with them.
