Stepdad looked at the car and it was the water pump that had went out. I do admit that he scared the hell out of me when he said that he was going to “Call a wrecker” after he determined that the problem was the water pump. He said that he put some antifreeze in and it just poured right out so he called a wrecker. I'm pretty sure that if I was linked up to an EKG it would have been writing in cursive. But he reassured me that the tow truck was just going to take it to my Granduncle's place for him to work on because it would be bad to drive it any more than absolutely necessary. Sounds like it's going to be an easy fix and it'll be done by the time I get off of work tonight. It was actually done when I was at my lunch break. I kind of wanted to drive around a bit when Stepdad brought it to the store after it got fixed, but I had to get back to work.
You know, for being a couple of days before one of the biggest holidays in our culture, today was really quite smooth. We did have one kid call in “sick” about 45 minutes before he had to be at work. But this was the kid who had “quiet quit” a couple of weeks ago (he also complained about not getting any hours even though he didn't show up for half of his shifts and then when he did show up he was completely useless) However there was another guy who was nice enough to stay and work for him. Kinda sucks for him that he's getting fired right before Christmas, but I'm pretty sure that was that kid's last straw with the management anyway.
I didn't realize until Stepdad took off with the car that I had forgotten to post on here that there was a crack that has been working its way across my windshield. The crack started after the snowstorm that came through the weekend after Thanksgiving. I got one quote from the local Safelite office but I was waiting for the Roommate to reimburse me his half of the rent to schedule the appointment to get that fixed. He had just now sent me his half of the rent for December and for January because of how late it was. (He said that he was having some drama with one of his payment cards) He's been kind of cranky lately because his home time didn't align with the holidays and this will be the first time he's going to be away from home for Christmas. But he is going to be spending the holiday in Vegas so I'm not sure if he's going to hate the entire experience.
But something that I am SO VERY cranky about is that I was under the impression that I had “full coverage” insurance with GEICO. I was paying $569 a month FFS. But when I made the appointment for the windshield repair this evening I got denied for any coverage for the repair for the windshield. As I didn't have “Physical Damage Coverage” when it had happened. What? Did I have EMOTIONAL damage coverage? What the hell am I paying $569 a month for? Stepdad had gotten an estimate from Progressive a couple of days ago that was CONSIDERABLY cheaper than what I was paying GEICO for, but I wasn't wanting to change car insurances with something that needed to be fixed. But if they're not going to pay anything for it anyway Fuck 'em (Sorry for language, but not by much. Seriously what the hell?)
On the way home from work I picked up a Rib-eye steak to grill on my George Foreman Grill because I was in a really good mood. My cars engine problem was fixed with very little expense to me and my parents were even nice enough to give me a full tank of gas on top of paying to get it fixed up. But that was before I found out that I'm going to be paying for the entire windshield replacement myself. I'll be able to pay for the repair. But I'll have to stagger the utility payments next month a bit. It would be nice to pay all of the utilities at the very beginning of the first month especially for of the first of the year. But it would have been nice if the car insurance paid for anything related to repairing the car.
And yes I am a bit salty why do you ask?
