Sober Month 10 (Day 324)
I got home last night and I just shut down. I worked until 9pm last night closing the desk. It wasn't that stressful. I actually got out on time for the second time in a row that I got out on time when closing the desk. A lot of times when closing the desk I get out 15 to 20 minutes late. But last night I was able to get out right at 9 O'clock.
I did pay my car registration yesterday. The invoice said that it was $150.02 and I remembered in the past when I paid with my debit card there was a fee. I thought that I would be clever and run by the store and grab a Sugar Free Red Bull and withdraw $160 and use that to pay the car registration. However when I got there there was still a fee so I ended up paying $152.54. It is really annoying to pay a fee to pay a tax. The invoice said that they prefer that the registration is paid online, but to pay it 45 days before your registration done. I'm guessing to let time for it to process and the mail to go through. My car's registration is up by the end of November so I wouldn't have time to pay it that way. But it is immensely satisfying to pay that bill a week before I was able to last year.
After I paid the car registration I ran by the bank to redeposit the change from paying that. While I was at the bank I went ahead and finally ordered some checks as I've been using the “filler checks” for the last six months. The filler checks are when you run out of the proper checks and they can print off sheets of four checks to use until your checks that you've ordered came in. It took about $32 to order checks, but I just hadn't had the money to order checks for so long. The frustration there is that the $32 won't charge my account until they ship the checks, and they've been delayed for a while and the lady at the bank said that it could take up to three weeks. The frustrations there is that although I will have the money in my account, I'll have to keep the extra amount in my account until whenever that decides to come through. I'll admit that having too much money in my account is a strange gripe to have, it's just that I have to wait for whenever that decides to come through to know how much money I have at the glance.
The AI projection is getting better, but it's still kind of dumb. It didn't realize that the daily spending and rounding transfers contributed to the future balances. Working with this AI Reminds me of back in school when we did the exercise of having a teacher make a peanut butter jelly sandwich and you had to tell them each step without what you would think would be basic reasoning. It's taking a really long time to generate the updated code this evening. But it did eventually come up with a lot more practical numbers for the end of the projection.
I forgot my daily notes at work
I was carrying out a good chunk of the day. I was also in the service desk for a little bit. Frustratingly my yearly anti money laundering training expired so I wasn't able to log into the money services. I was able to start doing the training. But it was the middle of the afternoon on a Friday I wasn't able to get a lot of it done.
I did manage to avoid buying anything today. So that helps with the finance stuff.
There was a time when I was a cashier and a guy started hollering and shouting about how horrible our modern world is. He was in his mid 40's hollering about how he remembered when we would open another register when lines started lining up. The poor thing had to wait THIRD IN LINE oh how horrible for the little snowflake. Could you imagine the horror of standing third in line on a Friday afternoon? Poor thing, truly we are living in the end of days.
I was scheduled to work at the Self Checkout for the last three hours of the day, but I really don't like running self checkout and there was a carryout girl that really doesn't like carrying out (well, she doesn't like working) So I swapped with her.
Had a Rib Eye for dinner. It did make this week's grocery bill a bit more than I could have spent, but it's been a while, and I was in a celebratory mood.
Going to bed a bit early tonight as I'm scheduled to work a little early tomorrow. Nothing extreme it's just 9am to 6 instead of the regular 11am to 8pm. But the time I need to be heading out to work is about the time I'm usually finishing breakfast.
