Sober Day 1
YMCA: No
Not a very productive day today. It would be easy to blame the weather. It's a nice gentle rain. The kind of rain that this area needs. But it's the kind that makes it easy to sit here just listening. It really was another one of those, "Blink and it's three hours later" kind of days.
Trying to do, "No Shave November" but I'm starting to get to where the facial hair is getting annoying. I've been told that it stops getting irritating after a point, but I've had yet to find that point. I put some extra shampoo on my face when I showered this morning. It didn't help.
I did manage to get a Store Story video posted, and finished editing a recipe video. But I recorded and did most of the editing of both of those videos yesterday.
Something else that I did yesterday was I started a blog post. The key to that was that I had started the post. But later in the evening I ran out to grab a 12pk of Bud Light. I thought about leaving that out, but that's just a lie of omission. And there was no reason for me to go buy beer. But if I was drinking rationally I wouldn't have a sobriety blog. And it wasn't like I didn't have anything to drink, on Tuesday I took advantage of a Digital Coupon for three 24 packs of diet soda. I haven't been tracking the soda like I've been wanting to. I start the day counting the cans. But after a while I lose count. And that's just how I drink. And that's really why I need to quit beer. I'll open a can, drink that can, open another can... That being said, I've slept surprisingly well for the last couple of days, considering that I've spent the last couple of days perpetually drinking caffeinated beverages.
I'm thinking about quitting the soda and energy drinks as well as quitting the alcohol. Heck this started as a blog to quit drinking soda, but as Mom says, "One goal at a time"
I didn't get to the YMCA yesterday or Today. Mother and I went on Tuesday and hung out for a bit in one of the weight rooms and did a bit of cardio, and on Wednesday we attended an aerobic swim class. But yesterday I used the excuse of working on videos to avoid the gym. But I really didn't have a reason today. I do have a pair of hand weights that I waved around a bit this afternoon. I am planning on doing weights tomorrow. But ask Orphan Annie about “tomorrow”
Even though I've been on PTO all week long I had lunch at the same time I do as the days I work. I was sitting at my computer thinking, hey this is the time I usually have lunch, but I shouldn't eat because “It's time to eat” I should only eat when I get hungry, but of course since I had that thought I suddenly got RAVENOUSLY hungry. It's probably because I thought of food, and then told myself that I shouldn't eat just yet. (And I started to get "hungry" again as I was posting this lol) I've noticed that a lot of my internet (and therefore everything else) is just obsessed with food.
I did come across
quite a few videos comparing dinosaur sizes. And I'm thinking that
it'd be fun to put a saddle on a Gallimimus and ride it around.
Gallimimus means “Chicken Mimic” and does look like a really big
wingless bird and is thought to be one of the quickest of the
dinosaurs. And there are places where you can ride around on
an Ostrich. And ostriches are much smaller than what gallimimus' were. Ankylosaurus is still my favorite dinosaur though.
Still feels like a strange flex, but I got the dishes done. I really need to do this more often. Not just because the obvious (well duh clean up after yourself) but having a clean room is very satisfying. It would be nice if the, “satisfying clean room” was the living room, especially the area around my desk. But maybe I'll start working on that tomorrow after the Y. I have before came up with a plan to assign a day of the week to each room, and then on that day focus on cleaning that room. But that plan has been as successful as all of my other plans.
Dinner this evening was a chuck steak cooked in butter. I thought about grilling it, but it's still raining. And I'm reading that neither of these methods are the "optimal" way of cooking these steaks. It did turn out very flavorful, a bit tough, but not overly so. Is it strange that I've been taking a spoon to scoop up the fluid drippings off of the plate after I've finished the steak? I thought about taking the spoon to the pan to get those drippings, but the cast iron was still quite warm.
