I have a very blessed family. But I'm a little disappointed that I broke Keto yesterday. But it is kind of convenient that the first day back on the diet is the first day of the month. I am wondering if I should even do the Keto this month. If I should restrict food spending to 15% of the income that's about $65 per week. And I was thinking that Hamburger Helper is pretty cheep. (not sponsored) I've already bought the groceries for this week so I won't be off the diet for now. But I'm thinking of seeing if I can get the grocery bill for next week to $75. That is over the $65, but that's half o...

Sober Month 10 (Day 281)
Keto Day 0

With the Check Engine light being on I was a bit nervous taking Roommate to his doctor's appointment and going to do the shopping. Since O'Riley's (not sponsored) said that it was an issue with the transmission gears As I was doing the errands today I was staring at the tachometer and had the transmission temperature reading on the center console. I don't usually have that reading up so I wasn't sure what “right” was on the reading, but the animation of the thermometer didn't get much higher than about the middle and the tachometer seemed to be pretty stable as I was driving around.

As usual for a Tuesday I did the grocery shopping right after I dropped Roommate off at his appointment and Roommate was done with his appointment right as I was done doing the shopping. I figured that was a good thing so I wasn't making a lot of different trips while the Check Engine Light was on.

I took an hour to let the car rest and have breakfast. The scale was giving me a lot of different numbers the last couple of days, but today seemed to be stable. I promise that I wasn't just cherry picking the good numbers. And today's waist had a really good number. I have two spatulas, a red one and a black one. The red one seems to have gone missing. The black one works, but the red one is thinner and if I'm not careful the black spatula will scramble the eggs.

I went to Mom's house to do laundry and we took my car over to Uncle's house to check on it. He confirmed that the code presented said that it had a bad gear ratio. He didn't seem to be too concerned about it. It probably just has a sticky valve or something. He suggested that it wasn't too hard to fix, but he didn't have the equipment to address it, but he did have connections to ask around that could find somebody who could fix it. He also said that driving it around for a couple of months wouldn't kill it. He cleared the code and it didn't come back on when driving back to Mom's house. He suggested that I did have it checked out, which does seem logical to me. He did say that it should only take a couple of hundred dollars to get it fixed. Mom said that she and Stepdad would help with the payment of getting that fixed, which is greatly appreciated.

She did try to help me with the budgeting. She told me that Grandpa had a bit of a thing that if you're hurting for money the best thing to cut is the food as there's no reason to waste money on stuff that will literally go to shit in 24 hours anyway. Looking it up apparently you're not supposed to spend more than 15% of your net income on food. Not only groceries, but snacks, soda, etc. With a paycheck of about $440, that means that groceries and soda should only be about $66. I have no idea how the heck that's going to happen.

Didn't have lunch while doing Laundry at Mom's house. Grandma did see that I was over at Mom's house so she had roasted a chicken and prepared some bread dressing, and creamed corn. Grandma also prepared some Chocolate Pudding for dessert. The pudding wasn't very Keto friendly, but neither was the bread dressing. However I didn't want to turn down a free meal. That meal wasn't very long after the time I would have normally had lunch so I was going to call that lunch and then when I got home I would have had dinner. But by the time I started getting hungry it was just way too late in the evening to get started on dinner. And because it was so late in the evening I'll use that as the excuse to not do the inventory or cook the lunch for the week.

I did get the stuff to make Keto Goulash. It's another one of those, "dump it into a pot and wait awhile." kind of recipes. I'm going to try to wake up early enough to get that done before work tomorrow. I'm not that worried about getting it done as I do have a couple of servings of the Pizza Soup still in the fridge

On the way home from Mom's house the Check Engine Light didn't come back on which was comforting. I did buy some window cleaner as driving into the sunset it was hard to see as my windshield as it had a lot of dust on the inside of it for some reason.

I feel like I am forgetting to say something, but I just suddenly got really tired. so I'm going to wrap this up, so I can go to bed.
