Sober Month 1
(Day 33)
YMCA: X
Spent too long last couple of days fiddling with the 3D Printers to make blog posts. The good news is the hex screws that I thought were all stripped out were actually fine, it was just me being too drunk to work on them properly. (Another thing to add to the list of thousands of reasons I'm glad I stopped drinking.) I installed the extruder that I had been wanting to install for a while now. When I looked at Amazon to see how long ago that it's been sitting in my basement waiting for me to get around to install it. It was back in December 2021. That was THREE YEARS AGO. That was three years of, “I want to get back to this thing that I want to be doing.” I kind of feel like I just woke up and discovered that I'm missing the last three years.
But one full month sober.
The bad news is that the extruder doesn't seem to be...extruding the filament. I think the extruder that I had in the basement is missing a gear that pushes the plastic through the printer. (That's what I get for leaving it un-packaged in the basement for three years.) For a moment I thought it might be the Hot End. But when I manually push the filament through it does come out of the Hot End. But I'm going to order another Hot End for that printer because as it was trying to print a screw dropped out of it, a strange kind of screw that doesn't seem to be a Hex Screw or any other kind of screw as it just has a small round hole instead of a Philips head or hex screw hole.
That was just the smaller of the printers. The bigger printer has the Extruder and the Hot End both completely disassembled. I used the gift card credit to order another extruder and a couple pairs of pants as the pants I have now are really starting to irritate me. The jeans are too tight for me to even bend down and tie my shoes. And the “slacks” are tight across the thighs so they're constantly rubbing around on my lower legs. They will still work for whenever I need a pair of pants. But it'll be nice to have other pants to wear. It'll be a couple of weeks before I order the new Hot Ends because next week is when I'm planing on paying bills. They're only about $20 apiece, but bills come first and I don't want to transfer money from savings to pay bills while I'm also spending money on hobbies. I have enough to pay for it all, but it doesn't feel right.
For breakfast I had a BBBE Breakfast. I've been wanting to have Steak and Eggs ever since I spent the extra money on food the other day, but I've just been sticking to the habit and then kicking myself as I'm eating because I was wanting to have steak and eggs instead of bacon and eggs. And this morning I did manage to cook the steak, but then had the thought it'd be fun to have the “Triple B and E” Start to the day as I haven't been very good on the diet over the last couple of days. (Sober but not Keto) I got to say, eating all of that was a bit of a challenge.
I was good for lunch as I only bought a can of Diet Lemonade Tea on the way out of the store. I really need to stop spending so much money on Energy Drinks. They're $3 per can FFS. Strangely I was REALLY thirsty when I got home and drank it. I feel like I could have had another three of those large cans. And I had a chuckle when I reached into the fridge and pulled out a serving of AI Chili. Kind of an ironic lunch considering this weekend's "Arctic Polar Vortex"
Later in the evening I was really wanting something to snack on. I decided to have a Savage Slim Jim. I really shouldn't have had that. It is low in carbs, but it was $4 for a snack, less than a half an hour before I came home and cooked dinner.
Well, I call it "cooked dinner" I just threw a couple of pork steaks in the oven. I let the oven do all of the cooking.
